Mont Blanc was founded by Benoit Gerin, a young French Pastry Chef, already well known for Avalanche Ice Cream, his earlier venture in the manufacture of premium natural ice cream and sorbets, and his new upper East Side cafe - ice cream - patisserie, Benoit.
Trained as a pastry chef in France, Mr. Gerin has worked in some of the most prestigious brasseries in Paris and London. After moving to the Carribean island of St Barts, he began making ice cream &, sorbets using local tropical fruits.
In 1999, he came to New York for a stint at Restaurant Jean Georges. From there, he went into his own business making upscale ice cream and sorbets and supplying them to the finest restaurants.
Now his new company Mont Blanc Desserts, in Brooklyn, NY produces ice cream and sorbets in more than 50 flavors, customizing flavors on request. Customers for this premier product are NY's prestigious restaurants, hotels, specialty retail stores, even cruise ships.

The sorbets have a smooth, creamy-like texture, yet contain only fruit puree and water. The fruit purees are supplied by Boiron, a renowned French company which selects the very best fruit from countries the world over, litchi & passion fruit from Taiwan, strawberries from Croatia, mango from India, Belgian chocolate, and vanilla from Madagascar. The purees contain no preservatives or colorings and retain only natural flavors.
